Strength in motion

Growing up, Janisse Patino-Martinez saw many young women trapped in limiting, sometimes abusive relationships. Wanting something different, the longtime dancer and communications major left the Miami area for MSU, where she felt energized by boundless leadership opportunities and recharged by dance activities. Janisse is a powerful presence on campus—from women’s leadership conferences to the Homecoming Court ambassador program to the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Prevention Program for which she is a peer educator. As the senior prepares for her next step, she’s mentoring new leaders and leaving a strong legacy.
